Recommendations for PC 5.1 speaker system

Thread Starter
I am trying to find a good 5.1 speaker system for my computer. My budget is from $200-$400 but I'd like it to be lower. I tried finding the Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 Surround Sound but they are discontinued. I really wanted that system because of its quality. So something close to that would be great.

I'm up for standard home theater systems as well, it would be nice to have an optical input for a gaming system.

Any recommendations?

I'm also looking for a sound card as well.

I have these, bought them for $110 dollars, they have really gone down... hmm

Anyways, i love these, and they sound great, if your really wanting to save some money.

I've used those before. They sound horrible compared to a real surround sound like the Klipsch 5.1 surround sound. I'm looking for a high end system.

Same thing as the Z5500, just with the s added because it's 5 speakers.

So if I bought the Z5500 I would only get the sub? Where would I buy just the 5 speakers?

Promedias suck. They sound good while they last but the build quality is retarded bad on those. I went through 2 sets and both died within a year.
There is a common problem on these that has to do with the craptastic amps. Great speakers, poopy amp = kill the promedia engineer guy.

The "Ultra series" apparently fixed the problem of the amps blowing so easily. Thats why they released the ultras shortly after the release of the first version.

As fragger said, the orginal Promedia 5.1s sucked because they died alot mine lasted less than a year, The Ultras however have been working fine for 3 years, they fixed the issues with the sub/speakers dying.

(I've owned both)
