Going to Over Clock my AMD CPU

Thread Starter
Well, I have a stock AMD Athlon 64X2 2.6GHz Dual Core Black Edition, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me a safe OC for my CPU? I was looking around 3.4GHz but I am also wanting a stable OC too, can anyone share a set up for me please?

Well we don't know what speed will be "safe" for you, every system responds differently to an overclock, you just have to learn the limits of your particular setup by experimenting.

But I can give you a little insight into what to expect. First of all, you have a great CPU cooler, so you should be just fine increasing your CPU voltage as high as 1.500v, but I wouldn't go any higher than that.

Most people get somewhere between 3.0-3.4GHz on the 5000BE, with the great majority being right around 3.2GHz. If I were you, I'd set the CPU voltage at 1.5000v and try setting the CPU multiplier to 16x, giving you 3.2GHz. If it loads Windows and can pass ~1 hour Orthos small FFT test, then you can increase the reference clock to see how much further you can take it. Make sure your memory is getting the appropriate voltage and that its speeds/timings don't go out of spec.
