Alrite, here is what I am thinking...

I could use those tracks that desks have for the pull out keyboard/mouse area. I would mount one side of the track to the inside of the side panel, and the other side of the track to the inside of the case. Then I could use an actuator or any other method to simply push up the side panel and pull it back down.

Keep in mind that this is just an idea for now. I would really like to do this though..

Thats going to be tough to implement and have a clean seal with the case... I have come dry on how this could work, unless you actuated the case panel at a 45* angle or something with a really high-torque actuator to seal it back on

Noooo that's my door idea! I've been mulling it over for a month about how best to do it. The big problem is getting the door and whatever track that is used to clear the case when the door is opened. I've thought about using drawer/shelf sliders like you pictured. When you mount the sliders to the case, I was thinking to mount it at the ends. If you make the bottom a pivot and maybe spring load the top so it will travel in and out like half an inch. Then when you lift the door up, everything would clear the top of the case. And to secure the door you just need some kind of locking mechanism at the top. Kind of like this:

i was thinkin minivan side sliding door to the idea..

have that actuator connect to a lock at the top.. then it begins to go up.. (before it actually pushes the door up) it will unlock the door and spring load it to push out.. then when the actuator goes back down.. it pulls the lock down and pulls the door in..

hmm that is a pretty useful picture, What if I used a second small actuator on its own track facing horizontaly to pull it open and closed.. like this.
