I find that hard to believe. Here is what I got from OCZ tech support...

The 9800GX2 requires two 6-pin and two 8-pin connectors. PC Power and Cooling makes several power supplies that will power your video cards. The Silencer 750 Quad or the Turbo-Cool 860 (and above) have enough power and the right connectors. You can check them out at www.pcpower.com. PC Power & Cooling specialize in top of the line power supplies. -------------------------------------------------------Status changed by: Allen Chung------------------------------------------------------- Regards,ocztechnology@exdesk.com--- Please do not reply to this email notification. I have ordered a 6 to 8pin connector. My card sits on my desk for now. I have 4; 12v rails in the 1010w power supply I have. I figure as long as I run PCIe 6 pin and one 6 to 8 pin adapter on a separate rail, I will be good to go. However, I am trying to sell my current power suppply. I have found a some decent priced 700w power supplies that can run two 9800GX2's for around $140 shipped at a few different sites.

I bought mine from here aswell. So far the card OCed to 720/1800/1000 so I doubt the adapter is causing issues.

I already bought it. It was only 12 bucks shipped, and I got it next day because it's in California. It didn't work though

Maybe I just got a bad card, who knows. I'm planning on throwing it back in my case, and trying one more time before I RMA
