Do you run your fan(s) in push (the default it seems for most HSFs), pull, or two fans in push/pull.

It also seems that nearly all HSFs have the fan directly mounted against the HSF. Do you use a shroud with your HSF?

And finally, while 25mm fans typically have high flows at zero resistance, 38mm fans build more pressure at zero flow (defining the ends of a more or less diagonal sloping line.) Do you use 38mm or 25mm fans?

Thanks,

David

Push with a 38mm Panaflo, better for squeezing air into the tight fin spacing on the Ultra 120 Extreme.

I've got a downdraft cooler with the fan on top blowing down onto the motherboard, so it's kind of pushing I guess. 25mm, by the way.

*****. is this really necessary? have you noted the temp difference with 1 fan compared to your monstrous creation of air pushers?

I'm not so sure having 2 fans on top of each other is really that effective? If they are pushing the same amount of airflow, I just don't see the benefit of having 2 on top of each other..

I was thinking the same thing and I had someone tell me months back here on OCN that 2 fans pushing 40cfm doesn't equal 8cfm. It's still 40 but you're just pushing the same air further.

Wow, while I must agree with dubbedmk3 saying that this is a bit unnecessary (specifically the two heatsink fans; one is more than enough, at least with 38mm thick fans), I LOVE the way you have everything arranged. It looks clean and nice. Five points for you on that.

I have two Zalman ZM-F3 as case fans (front intake, rear exhaust) and also a Sanyo Denki San Ace 109R1212H1011 120mmx38mm fan as the heatink (Thermalright Ultima-90i) pusher. Give me some minutes, and I'll take some pictures of my setup, but still, your looks WAY nicer. Mine is a complete disaster. Congratulations.

EDIT:

Okay, here it is:

I had to do some modifications to the heatsink clips, so they could support the 38mm thick fan.

haha, i'll take pics of my rigs when i get home. both of my computers have semi-ridiculous setups.

I was trying to figure out how heatsink airflow would be effected by the side fan on either of my computers. Whether the side panel fan is intaking or exhausting, it is still disrupting the front-to-back airflow of the case. Should I just take the side panel fan off?
