Antec 900 or CM690?

Thread Starter
Maybe this is a silly question as the 900 is a lot more expensive so maybe it is in a different class, but Newegg has the Antec 900 for $119 with a $40 MIR(so $79.99 after rebate) and Tigerdirect(which we have a warehouse I can drive to) has the Coolermaster CM690 for $79.99

From the screenshots I have seen the CM690 "seems" like it has more room inside, but the Antec looks better and has enough stock cooling fans without requiring a lot of others.

Just curious if anyone has experience with both and can comment on which would probably be a better case. I have a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme on order and 7xYate Loon 88CFM fans, but if I can avoid using them that is fine with me. My other system info is in my sig.

i was at the store and had the same dilemma. i however, chose the antec becuase i had thoughts about watercooling for the future but i still wanted good airflow. i dont think youd have trouble with room if you get the A900. as you can see i have quite a bit of room. it fits a tuniq nice so the TRUE shouldnt be a prob. heres my case.

If you look around, the CM690 can be had for a lot less. I found mine last year for $39.99 after rebate. For that kind of money, the CM690 is the definite best choice. If you're going to pay $80 for it, then the Antec might be a better choice. The Antec has a side window and a big top mounted fan that comes with it which is nice. The CM690 is a bit more moddable I think and has more fan placement options. You could easily fit a second front fan like the Antec has as well. Either way they are both good cases. It might just come down to whether you want a pre-installed window or not.

CM690! It is SUCH a great case, I'm SO glad I chose it over the Antec 900! It's roomy, GREAT design, LOTS of fan holes, GREAT case!

Do you have foam wrapped in there?

Hey thats my mobo BTW. So at least I know how my mobo would look inside

I have no intention of ever watercooling either. 2 kids, and no interest either...air is fine for me.

Yeah I have searched everywhere and no one is running a special on the CM690 right now. Maybe I will wait a week or 2 and see if they run another one. Of course the 900 won't have the special $40 for long either so I might miss the boat if I wait too long.

What about dust issues? That is one of my main concerns is we seem to have a lot of dust in our office area and I don't want a case that is going to make it worse.

I have both but prefer the Antec 900 its to much of a hassle with the 690 seriously it is took my 6 hours for wiring and 2 hours for wiring on the 900

CM 690 is better for price/performance,
However if u dont mind a tight fit, the A900 rapes for performance
