First Overclock Gaming rig 6600 g0

alright total budget is around +-$750

the purpose of this build is to increase my frames for cs:s and be successful with my first overclock. I want to OC the ram and the cpu, and i dont want to be bottlenecked by my current processor which is the purpose for this semi build. Currently have an amd 4400 x2 dual core running at 2.3 ghz 2gig's of ram and an acer stock mobo running on Vista home premium 32bit. Just so you get an idea of where im coming from.

i have a few components i will not be replacing

-500 watt Xcilo Goodpower PSU (is this powerful enough for a quad? and one gpu?)
-Antec Case
-8800gt gfx card
-300gb hard drive
-creative x-fi xtreme gamer sound card

Im thinking of getting this

-EVGA LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard $249.99
-(2X) mushkin 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 $89.98
-Intel quad core 6600 g0 if i can find one? any good online dealers that ensure g0? (heard they were better for OC'ing) $254.99
-Tunig Tower heatsink $44.99

subtotal=$639.95
Total=$691.15

Another option would be

-EVGA LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI DDR3 ATX Intel Motherboard $349.99 (better than 780i because of faster chipset? and ddr3?)
-G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) $144.19
-Intel quad core 6600 g0 if i can find one? any good online dealers that ensure g0? (heard they were better for OC'ing) $254.99
-Tunig Tower heatsink $44.99

subtotal=$794.16
total=$857.69

Im leaning more towards the first set up since its more in my price range and 4gigs of ram sounds really nice for that price, plus i can always overclock it so let me know what you think it would be greatly appreciated

Well you don't need an SLI motherboard if you plan on running one video card. Get a P35 motherboard instead. Gigabyte P35-DS3L or the DFI BloodIron would be good choices and a lot cheaper. Get Vista 64 Bit as well so you can actually use all 4GB of RAM. As for RAM, DDR2 800 is fine, but I'd go for the Crucial Ballistix or my sig RAM. 1066MHz RAM is cheap now as well, but because your FSB won't be that high with the Q6600 on air most likely, you really won't need it.

you got a good start there. i would reccomend some changes though.
(1) like losttol suggested, look into the Gigabyte P35-DS3L board. i can get my Q6600's up to 3.4 to 3.6 easy.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128059

(2) this ram is really good, 4 gigs 2x2.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145

edit: oh, yeah, newegg has you Q6600 also.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115017

well, in 32 bit you can read sometimes up to 3 gigs, sometimes less.

It's better to get 64 bit anyway, and the difference between 32/64 bit in price shouldn't be that big of a deal.

edit: I like your idea of sticking with the 780/790i Boards for SLI in the future. P35's are good, but for SLI they're not... lol
