After many, many tentative "release Dates", the first appearance of Asus' Rampage Formula featuring the New X48 chipset, has finally hit the retail shelves here in USA.
As of 12PM Central Sat/Sunday 22/23 March

You can flash your regular x38 formula to a rampage formula with some mods

I find the price for an official Rampage to be bordering on the ridiculous.
I have also wondered about the so called X38 vs X48 thing....Followed the link above and tend to agree with the findings here...
Clever Asus marketing and manipulation within a family of boards I reckon..The fact that the Rampage bios/formula bios thing has happened tends to confirm my belief in this...
I'm quite happy running my Formula/Rampage hybrid right now.
