[GAMESPOT] US gov't investigating PS3's Blu-ray - Page 2

And what would happen if this infringement turned out true? Would that mean Sony and the gang have to pay up but still can use the tech? What about about the company that called them out? if they win does that mean they can force Sony to not use Blu-Ray? If they don't allow sony to use it, there goes the ps3 selling point.

they made the rumble tech that the ps3 was going to get till sony got sued. for those who don't know. I know they didn't invent blu-ray since thats not what they do.

How about they investigate something worthwhile, like how Sony and Toshiba bribed studios to back their formats, which really is an unethical way of conducting business.

not to mention monopolistic... In fact, wasn't Intel caught for the same type of business practices?

However, this type of business practice is rampant throughout the business world. Look at all the games we buy that have money fronted to devs to "make sure" it works with their products. It's time us consumers put our foot down and refuse to buy from company's that conduct unethical practices like those.

I agree with this, except that "format wars" are somewhat a unique case. The longer the war lasts, the longer the customer is gambling and/or potentially getting screwed. I dunno the answer to this.. :/

no it isn't. Its factual. they are indeed investigating PS3 blu-ray drives, the only problem you have is that they didn't say the other companies being investigated.
It is misleading to anyone that doesn't know any better. Why is this such an issue with you?
It's not really misleading, they just focus on a certain element which is relevant to gamers, as that is what kind of news they report on.

It is misleading, get over it.

Did you honestly look at the subject and think immediately that all blu-ray drives and other devices were being investigated, or only Sony's blu-ray?

If every consumer stopped buying from companies "that conduct unethical practices like those" ... everything would collapse. Capitalist societies first and fast. It might happen anyway, so don't help it along!
