All of are guilty...but that does not mean we have an illness. I love for something or a hobby of an individual is not wrong, nor should it even be categorized as and "illness." So do not let this quack discourage any of you...I know I wont, I love my PC.

Same here. As for the perm internet thing... that would be a blessing. Why? Because you wouldn't need some sort of interface to use it, and you'd be free to do other things while on the internet... which would eliminate some of the effects of this "illness".

In any case, they don't categorize the love for internet/computers as an illness, but when people are unable to control how much time they put into it, etc.

Some of us are able to understand this. I've missed deadlines for school stuff before, and didn't study for tests because of computers, so... yes, THAT would be an addiction.

The worst thing for me to have at the mornings is some free time, because then I'm late for school.
I have a few minutes where I don't have anything to do, so I turn on my screen and browse OCN or something... and I end up browsing for a little bit too long, usually ending up 5-10 min too late.

Like Highly-Annoyed said, it is something to do with knowledge. At Friday night I was supposed to finish working on some video, but my friend showed me some new type of CGI that I wanted to learn how to work with, so I ended up spending 4 hours on it instead of just 30 min to "take a look"...

The reason why OCN makes me late for school is when I come on here for a few min, there's always a help thread, like helping choose parts for a rig... and so I head to newegg or something to get links for suggestions, and spend too long picking parts and maximizing bang for buck.

Again, as Highly-Annoyed said, knowledge is power, and many of us are addicted to knowledge.

This was featured on "the feed" on G4's AOTS a week ago... what's worse is that some university is trying to get "internet addiction" classified as a mental disorder.... stay home online, and collect a government check anyone?
