Scariest game you've played? - Page 20

I don't remember why, but I remember something from Phantasmagoria scaring the crap outta me. I don't remember exactly what it was, but it was scary. I remember that game coming out - it's been a long time since I've played it!

for me i only have 2 real memories of being scared in games

the first was HL:2, in Ravenholm, i had managed to play through most of the level without too much worry so though id be brave and operate lights out, curtains drawn and volume up. The bit that got me was about 3/4 way into the level when you hear the drain pipes rattle and those rapid zombies climbing up to the roof and then one runs at you, full pace, ****, lights on, didn't play the game for another week i swear to god.

the second was another common one on STALKER, in that underground level, seeing those stupid invisible creatures and weird jumping gas mask creatures, hahaha i have never ran so fats in a game before

Mine is probably either Resident Evil 1 or 2 (can't exactly rememeber which) when the dogs and zombies jump through the windows and come at you. I had just gotten a 32" TV and surround sound sytem and was playing late at night. Everything is all quiet until they smash through the windows which makes a lot of noise when it's turned up nice and loud. I almost threw my controller across the room being so scared.

My vote is also for STALKER, although it's by no means a horror game, the two labs x16 and x18 are *creepy* as ****. I started x18 at night, home alone ... and I ended up waiting until morning to finish it cause I was literally freaking out. Makes me laugh now though cause I've played those levels like 20 times at least at this point, I can't remember why they freaked me out anymore ... it was clearly ... the UNKNOWN ...

It's also my favorite FPS ever made. I can't even tell you how many times I've played through to the entrance to the CPP (after that point, I don't like it that much, but that's WAY late in the game).

Can't wait for clear sky (AUGUST ... that's TOO LONG!!!) to come out!

There were also a few times in Far Cry that I was a bit freaked out too.

Doom 3 tried too hard to be scary in my book, I couldn't take it seriously and rarely found myself 'scared', because I was just CONSTANTLY waiting and expecting all hell to break loose (hehehe) so when it did, I was prepared. It was more 'startling' than actually scary to me. Resident Evil is kinda the same way.

FEAR for sure had it's moments that were freaky ... some of the elevator rides ... turning on the elevator in armacham and coming face to face with alma ... which is like the one time when she WON'T go away automatically unless you leave the room ... the super-tense final sequence leaving the vault. Loved that game, probably my #2 all time.

FEAR also had the coolest weapon ever in a game ... the plasma rifle thingy was off-the-hizz...

For me I don't have a game that I think is the scariest. I just don't get the creepy feeling though I have been shocked or suddenly surprised. Though I have yet to play FEAR more than the demo version or Stalker at all. Beyond that I have played most with the exception of Fatal Frame.

Silent Hill 3 scared the crap out of me. Doom 3 was pretty scary but it got to the point I could predict it. FEAR was scary as well.

#1, i dont like big spiders.
#2, they are big spiders.
#3, they come in large masses.

also, when you come into contact with the super soldier zombies - the ones with the whip arm - they just keep coming, and take alot of bullets to go down.
The spiders were just annoying. There was one part where you have to fight spiders for like 5 whole minutes. You can't really move forward until you kill them all, so it was just plain annoying.

The whole game gets so predictable. I got scared as hell at first, but after a few maps in, I got to the point where whenever I heard a sound, I'd just turn and shoot. No more jumping out of my seat.

Whaaaaat? RE4 is SO not scary... It's more of an action game than a horror game. REMake (RE1 remade for gamecube), on the other hand... I wouldn't play it without someone sitting by my side. And I wouldn't play it after 9pm. I don't know how many times I dropped the controller lol

THAT was a scary game
