1T is faster, but given the stability issues that you're having, I would stick with 2T for the time being.

Something to consider:

I was in a very similar situation a few months back with four sticks of Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 memory; I had bought matching kits (or so I thought) from the Egg. Turns out that the kits were different revisions and hence had different IC's. You may want to check the revision number on your sticks and make sure they are the same; otherwise, you could be dealing with the effects of mismatched sticks on an integrated memory controller.

Hope this helps!

Well my 4 sticks of Corsair DDR2-800 I picked up from newegg ran fine on this MB. I purchased 2 sets of Crucial Balistix DDR2-1066 used from 2 diff. people. That may be the problem I'm having. Going to check on those numbers...

Thanks

Okay I havent been folowing the thread to well so forgive mistakes if i make more

A friend of mine is running a GB 790FX with a Pheonem 9500x4 and after a chipset voltage increase he was able to get 2x2GB but could not run all 4 2GB sticks

found that somehow 2 of the sticks died in the middle of the process

but try upping chipset voltages to stablize things

I am currently dealing w/ the same problem as you... well, sort of.

I had 4x1GB sticks (2 ballistix 800 and 2 ocz platinum 800) running at 2.2V with 5-4-4-10 timings for over a month. Windows loaded fine and the system even passed orthos for 12 hour blend test..

I decided to run memtest yesterday and after numerous passes and 26 hours of testing, I finally got an error..

I loosened the timings and kept getting memtest errors...
I decreased the speed and kept getting memtest errors..

I took each pair out and ran memtest on the pairs invididually to check to see if I had bad ram... both pairs passed extensive memtesting..

Right now I have all 4 gigs back in the system and running at 4-5-4-15 @ 2.2V and running memtest.. Hopefully she will pass..

It's just messed up that it passed memtest for 26 hours then decides to fail and not work at all... not even at stock speed.. until i reset it and start over

first id recommend you get memory that are the exact same type really, and id say no more than 2 sticks in dual channel....u should try using 64bit windows anyways, no more than 3gigs will be recognized on 32bit like posted before. trying to get optimal with 4 sticks is really hard... 2 gigs is going to ease your work with the timings and overclocking

Subtimings and NBv are the key in most cases.
