New Q9450 Build - New to O/C - Advice - Page 2

Thread Starter
I'll definitely post some pics soon regarding my overclocking results. I haven't had the time to mess with it just yet so this is the week =).

I'm just currently working out all the kinks to get it into it's initial running state. It hasn't been easy but it seems to be working OK thus far. I had some initial issues with installing Vista 64 with 4gb, so I just used 1x2gb stick to get it running and Vista w/ SP1 installed. Got all the drivers/bios updates etc ready as well it's currently running some stress tests atm while I'm at work to see if it's ok to move forward with the OC.

I will let you guys know, thanks for the suggestions.

hello

3.0-3.2 ghz is easy on the Q9450.

I have an early engineering sample of the 9450 and for 3.2 I have to up the vcore a little to 1.24 and VTT to 1.28.

If I remember correctly it was doing 3.0 on stock vcore (1.18).

Now I am running it 24/7 at 3.4ghz/1.30 vcore. I was able to get at 3.6 and above but with vcore higher than the intel specification limit (1.3625) but since I am running it 24/7 I settled for 3.4.

just keep it at a 8x multi and slowly up your FSB to 400mhz. I find it easier to stabilize the FSB first by setting the CPU to the lower multi (6x) and setting the FSB to 400mhz. Run stress test and adjust your northbridge vcore + CPU VTT (or FSB termination) until stable.

then set your cpu multi back to 8x and adjust your vcore until stable in Prime95.

this way it's easier to troubleshoot what is not stable.

have fun with your new rig!
