Q6600 B3 or E8400

Thread Starter
I am trading my Phenom and I have offers for a Q6600 or an E8400. Which one would be great for gaming. I know 4 cores aren't really used right now. I will be SLiing soon.
IM not sure about the quad but the e8400 has fulfilled my expectations and some.
I dont have any complaints.
I do know that games dont utilize four cores at this time.
In the future Im sure they will so the quad would cover you in the future.
But my vote is for the e8400.
Muhahaha.

I agree

Q6600 is nice, but for gaming and raw speed..E8400.

I have been wanting a quad-core and well I have one. And I really don't need one. I was fine with a dual core and think that's all I need. I think I might go with the E8400 though. This will work with a 780i right?

I think I will have to sleep on it. it's 4 AM and I haven't slept.

yep go with the E8400 and yes it will work with the 780i boards
post #8 of 23
Go for the E8400 since you mostly play game..

Seriously 8400 is performing better than Q6600 but it's only slightly, and for sure in some time multi-threads games will run way better on quad rather than dual.

In fact the answer depends of how long are you planning to keep the rig after getting it.
