8800GT 1gb - Page 3

Erm forgive me but it looks like half of those results show a decrease in performance. And it only shows a performance increase of over 15% in a few games at wth-omg res. The 350% you say is achieved in a game I I have never heard of. Also at wth-omg resolutions on max graphics the gt would lag like hell. If you average those out you might see a 7% increase in performance. Remember the 1g 8500gt that showed a great performance increace. Tell all the gtx+ ultra+ gtx2 (which can only use 512mg of its memory) owners that they need more vram.

Cheers

Erm, forgive ME, but you are now changing the question to try to make yourself not look like you were wrong my friend.

I told you exactly what game I was talking about, I told you the performance increase that could be seen, and you were so damned ****sure of yourself that you laughed at my assertion, several times, did you not?

I then proceeded to prove that I knew what I was talking about with hard, cold numbers, and rather than admit that I was right, you are choosing to move the proverbial goalposts.

We were not talking about average performance, I know I certainly never did. I never said the GTX owners needed more ram, either.

What I said was that the 256bit memory interface does not make extra 512MB of RAM useless. And the numbers I showed you bear that out, no matter how you want to now redefine the question. If that VRAM was useless due to the memory bus width, there would be NO INSTANCES where performance was improved by adding that RAM.

And furthermore, in the case of the game PT Boats, having that extra ram is the difference between a PLAYABLE framerate at 1280x1024, 4xAA (29fps) and a NON-playable framerate (15fps) on the 512MB version. So it's not ALL OMG-*** resolutions we're talking about here.

BTW, how do you know that the memory requirements of PT Boats won't be the wave (hehe) of the future?

You don't. Neither do I. The point is, that extra VRAM CAN improve performance, despite the 256-bit bus width. That's all I ever claimed, and I have shown you numbers to bear that fact out.

Crysis, jall of juraz, and wic, where the performance is is all at 20fps which is choppy, and unplayable.
