No, the X48 is a die shrunk X38. The X38 is made on the 90nm process and the X48 on the 65nm process. Northbridge manufacturing process's tend to lag behind CPU's.

Yes, but you have to put it on yourself. This is because many people who buy DFI don't use the stock heatsink. The UT model comes with a fancy heatsink like ASUS or Gigabyte that is shipped assembled.

Newegg lists the board out of stock when you are in list view. But when you actually click on the motherboard product page it is listed as in stock. So I am guessing it is still in stock?
