Has anyone ever put Leapord on their Vaio FZ series laptop? Would be great to know how difficult it is.

Its illegal, and even if you do find out how(easy to find the instructions...) the process if long and not for beginners.

Was unaware of the illegality of it. I have found instructions, I was just looking for experience with that particular line of laptops.

If this were possible, I'd probably do it. Well, it is possible, but of course you don't get a 100% functional OS. There will always be things here and there that don't work.
post #6 of 11
I "know" people who have gotten leopard 100% functional on a pc with specs such as mine without a hitch. The laptop is a completely different atmostphere, there is alot of trouble getting all the components working because they are integrated and a bit more specialized than desktop ones. on a laptop there will be issues, especially with leo. Tell us you specs on the laptop and maybe i'll be able to give you a better answer.

edit: i'm pretty sure that worireless won;t work without a fight.

@murcielago585

Hello,

I would like to ask you if you could help me finding out if Leopard would run on my Laptop. It is a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ31Z with the following specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo T8300
4GB DDR2
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS

Do you need more information? I'm not really experienced with that matter. The thing is that I wanna use all 4 GB RAM which VISTA 32 bit wouldn't do. I heard Leopard does.

Thanks for your help!

Why not just run Vista 64bit, if its RAM you want?

@Bjorninou

hi
I installed leopard on my system which has the same specs as yours and it does recognize my 4GB of ram however here is a list of the problems I faced:
1-no sound
2-mouse-pad scrolling and tapping don't work (because they have a different system on mac books with using more than one finger and everything ...)
3-my network card and wireless don't work
4-it has a problem with usb devices and sometimes doesn't recognize them
5-it hasn't recognized the graphics card model and thinks that it only has 32MB ram.

There might be more problems but i just installed today so i haven't explored everything yet, and I haven't had the chance to see if the mentioned problems are fixable yet.
