8800 GTS (g92) + Crysis

Thread Starter
Currently I have an 8800 GTS 512 (g92) video card with the HR-03 heatsink on it. I do not have a fan mounted on the HR-03 because I have the A900 case which I was told the airflow would make up for that..

Anyways.. getting to the point!!! I installed crysis and hit the optimal settings button and it set everything to high.. the game works great on high but whenever I get to like a cutscene it lags a little in the frames.

I just don't understand why they would set me to high if its not going to work all around.

I have the video card OC'd to uh.. 800/2000/1150 so I'm just wondering if I stick a fan on the HR03 if that is going to keep my temps low enough to oc it more so it won't lag.. or do I need to turn down some of the settings?

Crysis sets me at vh but i can only get around 10fps at that detail. Definitely stick the fan on your gpu hs; why wouldn't you? Evan a case fan, or a stock cpu fan works well as a second fan.

1) The auto-setting of one's graphics settings by a game is a very imprecise process. Don't take it too seriously.
2) The cut-scenes in Crysis drop the framerate pretty dramatically on everyone's systems. It's just the way it is.
3) That is most likely way too high of an overclock for a passively cooled heatsink on a 8800GTS. I would either lower the settings or get an active fan solution going.
