8800GT or 9600GT - Page 2

Thread Starter
Because if I'm getting 100fps with the g92 instead of 80 with the 8800gt, then why spend another $40 on something completely unnoticeable?

If that's the case, the 8800GS is always an option too. I think it runs for about $110 on NewEgg after MIR. (The most inexpensive version, made by XFX.)

Just throwing options out there!

nahh. I want to be able to stick with the card for like 2 years, the only upgrading I would do is buy another for SLI. If I'm spending $120 on 520mhz clock, why not spend $170 on a 650mhz?

The choice is yours. I like all three of those cards are really equal to each other, once you compare the performance and costs.

I just built mine a few days ago, also. I think I'm gonna go with the 9600gt. Besides, 2x8800gt's would be around $450, 2x9600gt's would be around $400. For 2-3fps difference I'm willing to settle.

You can pick up xfx 9600gt's for $130 each at the egg.

8800GT is still the price/performance king if you ask me. If you don't plan on upgrading for a while, the card's higher performance compared to the 9600GT will make it last longer.

Oh, and to the guy who bought the 8600GT - sell it and get the 8800GTS 512. Now that's a card.
