AMD Sempron 3400+ - Page 2

You may just be stuck @ 1.96 ghz. I don't remember off hand what else can be changed in the BIOS that may help.
I don't think you can change the CPU voltage. You may be able to lower your memory timing (Should be an option of Auto, 400, 533, 667, 800). What memory do you have and what is it currently running at?

You should really run orthos or prime 95 for 12-24 hours to make sure it is completly stable.

Next time I am at my sisters, I will look around in her BIOS to see what options it has.

Actually, the 890 has a bus lock but some say its finicky! Apparently they got the PCI lock right on the 890 Pro.

I would not use a 5000+ and that MoBo, you can't use it to it's potential (the CPU).

hi, just want to add this ,
I was able to overclock my BE to 3.2 with cheap ass board ASUS M2N-MX-SE (the damn board got nothing but multi change and voltage change (up to 1.375 or something but asus usually cheat, so it is in reality 1.42v)lol, how strange but fits my needs)
tho i switched to m2a later cause my newly bought 2900 is too big and block sata ports

The 5000+ BE is a 13x multi, but is completly unlocked. Only issue is I don't think you can change the Multi at all with your MoBo (it is not an option to lower it on my sisters, so it is probably not there to raise it either), so you would be theoreticaly maxed @ 3.055 ghz (13x 235) but since your already having issues with OC the Sempron, I doubt the BE would do much better (except it is 2.6ghz stock and a dual core).
Now if your getting the BE now to use on your current MoBo and then plan on upgrading the board in the future it would be OK.

IMO, I would look for a cheap X2 here or on e-bay (I just got a 4200+ for $37 US shipped).
