Whats better about the Q6700?

Thread Starter
My build that Im planning on doing was going to have a Q6600 and a EVGA 780i motherboard. Those two items come up to about $500. I was then directed to this link from TigerDirect.ca with the EVGA 780i motherboard and a Q6700 bundle for $499.99.

So is the Q6700 better? Obviously stock it is, but I plan on overclocking so does it overclock just as well?

You'll get the same end result with either one.

The 10x Q6700 should have similar OC as 9x Q6600. That 780i and Q6700 is a good deal. The Q6700 itself is already about $500 so the board is free bascially.

EDIT: So your being offered the Q6700 cheaper? Get it.

They OC about the same.

if its the same price, go with the 6700, they are almost identical chips aside from stock speeds, but the main diff is that the 67 is a $500+ chip and 66 is around 250 and dropping, so for no other reason get the q67, if ur not happy with it, ebay it for 350 and keep the change :-)

My E6700 gave me about 500MHz more OC than my E6600 FWIW. I wouldn't be surprised if the Q6700 would do a decently higher OC than a Q66.

Go with the Q6600. You wont be dissapointed and with the extra $$ you can get a watercooling setup and push that Q6600 to 4ghz+ easily with the right mobo/ram.

you get a higher multiplier and don't have to run your FSB at 450 to get to 4ghz

that seems to be the limiting factor with people's q6600 oc's, their boards can't handle those fsb's
