8600gt help/advice

Thread Starter
Ive been looking for a decent budget card to hold me over till i can afford something a little better. What it looks like is the 8600gt is the best for the job but which one?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150229

I like this one but everyone says that the fan is super loud.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150258

Then there is this one which sounds quieter and has a higher factory clock but its more expensive.

Then there is the EVGA one and there are a few others that im not really interested in.

Does anyone have any positive/negative experience with any of these or have a different card to recommend in the sub 100 price range.

Lastly does has anyone ever gotten a rebate back from xfx? Seems like a lot of rebates fall through

Buy this X1950 Pro instead for $85. It's a much better card.

Like pbpenguins412 said, X1950 is a good option if you still play dx9 games. The $110 8800GS is another good option if you can spend extra $10.

pbpenguins412 - funny how you are selling one :-O even though it is a pretty decent price

linskingdom - i like that chart, i just saved it. Ill look through some reviews of card to see if there is a "quiet" one.

Still however looking for someone with the 8600gt that like their card and can give me some personal info on it.

I saw someone selling their GF 7600 GT for $40 shipped! Thats a great deal if you ask me because I paid $50 for mine.

The GF 8600 GT & and 7600 GT are pretty much identical when it comes down to specs. Theres really no point in paying more money for something you can get for much cheaper with the same performance. Heres the link for a comparison between the two gpu's: http://legionhardware.com/document.php?id=637

Heres the guy selling it: http://www.overclock.net/sale/309861...rememusic.html

Even if the 8600GT is a DX10 card I doubt you'll be able to play any future games because I'm pretty sure their going to be more demanding. You cant expect to play any future games with a mid-range card anyways right? Besides can you really tell the difference between DX9 & 10?

To put it bluntly, an 8600GT won't be able to run any DX10 games with anywhere close to playable frame rates.

And I'm not selling that X1950Pro; Crrust is...
