No worries. If you'd like an 8 series card...

A good choice for your budget range would be the EVGA 8800GS; it is on sale for $110 after rebate at Newegg. This is a card with roughly double the performance of the 8600GT, and is a phenomenal overclocker (up to 8800GT speeds easy).

Check it out:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130332

Hopefully you can scrape up the extra $40.. trust me, it will be well worth it.

Well, my 8600GT is running slightly OC'ed (607.5 core, 799.2 mem at 43 deg. C idle) and I can handle most any game out there today... really depends on what you consider playable. I don't like dipping below 25fps, but that seems to be about the average with med/high settings on today's games (CoH, M2:TW, etc.)

My 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 is just fine. Plays every game I've thrown at it on high settings with anywhere between 45-100+ FPS depending on the game (HL2, Prey, etc), and even Crysis on medium settings in 720p. HOWEVER, mine is heavily modded as well, with a Coolermaster Coolviva Pro SE HSF, ramsinks, AS5, and volt-modded. I have it overclocked to 920 MHz core, 940 MHz memory (1880 effective) and 2024 MHz shader. With everything else in my sig, I get just shy of 8,000 in 3DMark06, it's quieter than any other component in my rig, it stays at 41*C at idle and 60*C max while gaming, and it gets high FPS at moderate resolutions on my 42" 1080p LCD HDTV on every game I've ever played except Crysis, which still looks beautiful on medium settings and 720p.
