Thread Starter
I was wondering if anyone has connected their PS3 to their computer? Also, some suggestions on the best method to go about doing this. Thanks!

That works with the composite connection, my issue is running my PS3 on 1080i or 1080p using HDMI. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough, but I've spent several days doing nothing but research on this only to have no luck.

You want to hook up your PS3 straight to your monitor or through your computer then your monitor?

Also, which inputs do you have on your monitor? (DVI, VGA, HDMI?)

Are you trying to share files via pc to ps3? If that is what you want to do then you need a file sharing server, there are tons of free ones.

If your monitor has DVI, then buy a DVI to HDMI cable. Then get an RCA-3.5mm adapter and use the normal cables to hook it up to your computer speakers. I haven't seen any TV tuner cards with HDMI.

I hook up my 360 Elite via an HDMI to DVI cord to my samsung 225bw with no problems. Should work for ps3.

noah already said it, thats how I have my ps3 setup

ps3 --> hdmi to dvi cable --> lg monitor
composite cables --> 3.5mm adapter --> line in on the computer for audio

then set the video to HDMI and the audio to composite on the ps3 and your on your way...

However, you monitor MUST support HDCP or else it won't work at all.

I'm trying to hook my PS3 into my computer in order to run the PS3 through PIP on my moniter. That way I still have both moniters, like if I'm playing WoW on one screen and have Thottbot open on the other. I really don't want to have a dedicated moniter just for the PS3 itself.

Theres definitely a splitter you can use. You just plug in your monitor and ps3 to it and click a button and it will switch inputs. I'm not sure what it's called though.
