Actually quite a bit of blu-ray players can receive firmware updates. I got a sony blu-ray drive for my computer about a week ago. The computer is the best blu-ray player because you know its playing back at the highest quality. Plus PowerDVD was updated a few days ago to support the 1.1 standard, 2.0 will soon be supported. Another advantage to the computer blu-ray setup is that with Nvidia cards, you get Purevideo HD, which decodes most of the video on the video card, plus it performs the 3:2 pull down and some other video enhancing/correcting features. Plus purevideo helps with CPU usage, I am only getting about 10% with every blu-ray I've played. I picked up the sony blu-ray drive for $199.99, although there is a LG retail one for $149.99 and the OEM is $129.99 all at the egg. I would highly recommend you guys pick up one of those drives, I am defiantly happy I jumped over to blu-ray and it's awesome having it on your PC.
