AoE3 Problem in Vista x64

Thread Starter
So as the title says I'm having a problem with AoE3 on Vista x64. Now I kinda know what the problem is. It has something to do with one of the windows installer files because whenever I go to install it just gives me strange looking thing in replace of certain functions. (ie. instead of saying "Next" on my button is says something like "IDS_NEXTBUTTON") Then if I just click through them like I should and just ignore the fact that it looks strange then it finished the install but then when I go to play the game it says that it can't find the files. Also I know it only happens to some installs of Vista x64. My friend has the same OS on his computer and he was able to install the game just fine. Pretty much I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and knows of any way to fix it other then doing an OS reinstall.

scratches on the CD's? maybe he have one of those older readers that can read better?
or if it's a ISO file then it's just strange. I'll se if I can test, since I have Vx64 in the other boot.

It is an ISO. I don't like using the originals of my games for constant installs so I just drop the ISO on my 500 gig and run it from there. So far the only information I've seen on this issue is that the x64 version of Vista has an installer problem with this game, but only sometimes. I really don't want to have to do ANOTHER reinstall so I will try anything.

A lot of games refuse to run from ISO's. Are you sure its fully supported?

Yup, my friend that has the same game, and the same OS, installed it the same way and it worked for him. It's very confusing to me that given the exact same circumstances there can be 2 different outcomes.
