Laptop Processors

Thread Starter
I want to change my laptop processor out. According to CPU-z i have a 65 NM Core Duo at 2.0 that a 65nm in there right now. the socket type is a 479 mPGA.

The laptop is an HP DV8000. Since the hinges for the monitor broke i have to take it apart anyway. Plus it has a heating problem. It doesn't over heat to the point where it shuts down but it gets hot really fast and the fans are spinning at max constantly.

I was thinking about getting some artic silver and throwing that in there and figured while im at it, swap out the processor for something newer. its a 65 nm processor. I looked on newegg and tigerdirect for 45nm socket M but i dont see any. Just in general im trying to get my 17 inch laptop as cool as possible. Im already going to replace the thermal paste.

I have a 65nm T7500 Socket P. I went to newegg and typed in socket P under search and found that there are some 45nm CPUs out for Socket P. I just did a newegg search for you and all I could come up with were 65nm CPUs. Also for keeping cool Artic Silver 5 will help. Also a cooling pad is a great investment. I actually take my cooling pad with me anywhere i take my laptop just incase I feel the need to fire up some TF2.
