[TH] -> Tom's hardware

http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/03/...s_from_nvidia/

This is could signal SLI tech on Intel chipsets as this is clearly a move by Nvidia to differentiate itself...

Still if the tech works as advertised.

Sorry I forgot the source. I don't very often post news stories because there are certain other people who spam enough anyways

Source has been added to the first post.

What NVIDIA is planning on doing is offering the onboard video to, sort of SLI with the dedicated video card. NVIDIA also claimed that the onboard video would be an ATI 4550 variant that motheboard manufacturers could actually add dedicated memory to.

As for the power saving feature, the board would run off the onboard video while surfing the internet, then switch to the SLI setup when you start gaming.

So I dont think this means we will necessarily see SLI on Intel boards...

Well it was anounced with the 780a boards, but it was included in the original article I read. Sorry I dont have a link. I was only posting to help clarify, but I guess I should find one. But basically the Hybrid SLI and non discrete chipsets now go hand-in-hand.

edit: Nvidia announces new chipsets, Hybrid SLI

just a though here but, does anyone think they could have a GPU socket on the MB, just like a CPU socket but for graphics. I think that would be sweet but thats me. I think with what Nvida is doing here could lead to that or a similar mentality, which I think would really open up and interesting new market
