With only one installation on the list it will be grayed out. It will only allow you to delete an installation that is not set to the default.

It can be done in multiple ways but it is probably a smidget easier to just click delete in the msconfig window then to edit it manually. But to each his own. There a million different ways to do anything in Windows, I like to learn new shortcuts all the time.

well the only reason i use bcdedit is i had to add a couple of things, and before SP1 you could disable driver signing enforcement permanently from there

i have x64 which required sign drivers only

but what exactly do you mean you have 2 instances? you mean the files from the previous are still there? then that's fine you can leave them if you still need them or safely delete them
ive done it and c drive said old win. new win win,whats that?it was when i was running raid0 and reinstalled i deleted old array and just installed without wiping drives.

Remember the little format button when you installed Vista again? Shoulda used it. Just delete the partition and fresh install
