I Need Help with my RAM Timings =[

Thread Starter
I recently just added 2GB of crucial ballistix to my system.
Currently I have 4GB total - 2x1GB OCZ Platinum and 2x1GB Ballistix ddr2-800.

I have had the ram overclocked to 917MHz with 5-4-4-10 timings. It worked for over two weeks running windows and everything. It also passed orthos for a 14 hour test.

I decided to run memtest on it to see if I could tighten up the timings at all. I changed them to 4-4-4-10 and worked my way up to 917mhz and it failed memtest. Then I loosened them up to 5-5-5-18 and ran memtest and it gave me alot of errors after a couple minutes.

I then put the ram back to stock timings. It passed memtest. Since then I have upped the voltage to 2.25V (only .05 over the rated 2.2) and ran the timings at 4-4-4-12 increasing the fsb until I hit 917MHz on the ram. It passed memtest for 5 hours on test 8. I set the timings to 4-4-4-10 and ran memtest again, letting it run all the tests for 24 hours.

I come home tonight and it went to 26 hours and then gave me a bunch of errors. I am now trying to loosen the timings to get the ram to run at 917mhz. I don't understand how they would run fine for 26 hours and then just fail. I checked to see if they were hot to touch and they were nice and cool... Any ideas?

Well, first off its not good to mix brands, they might be same speeds, but they are different brands nevertheless...

and thats odd Rarley does it run for that long and give errors, it shoudl give an error before 5 hours. Umm... Try to loosen the timmings at 4-6-4-12/10 see how that works.

just to make sure the sticks aren't broken i seperated the pairs and ran memtest on each. Both pairs have passed 5 loops of test 5 and 3 loops of test 8.

I guess it's back to the drawing board lol
