[Joystiq] Call of Duty 4 DLC in the works for PC

As excited as we are about new maps for Call of Duty 4, we have to admit to being a bit perplexed as to why we weren't hearing anything about the content coming to PCs, the system that's usually first in line for downloadable content. Now, after reading a recent post on Infinity Ward spokesman "fourzerotwo"/Robert Bowling's blog, we're even more confused.

Bowling writes that while no plans have been announced, "we are working to bring PC users the same content in the future, however logistics are being worked out on how to make that happen." Wait, can't they just download a file? After all they -- hey! Wait a minute, we get it now! Maybe by "logistics" he means "how to charge money for them." Now that would make perfect sense. Sure, there are other things he could mean, but our monetization sense is definitely tingling.

Charging money for maps on a PC game? They'd have better luck.......Doing anything else.

And even if they were to release the new maps for a price, everyone, and I mean every single last person would pirate it or not buy it at all.

Agreed. This is pretty low.

Well....that doesn't really work if they release it like the add-on packs to BF2 (which failed miserably)
I don't really mind paying for new content......but whatever.

wow, im pretty surprised here, i wouldn't mind paying for DLC at all, as long has its worth it (jsut liek any other game purchase) Half of us already pirated the game (not me) and got it for a whopping price of $0 and now the extra content is on its way. Look more maps! what? you want my money?? ...wheres my utorrent. My god just buy it and play it, PC games are already less money then console games to start with.

plus, DLC from IW seems pretty reliable to me.

The problem isn't with the price. It is with change. PC gaming has been basically free after the initial purchase of the game. That is why a paid subscription like XBL will never take off on PC's. we are too use to free servers and free online play. And just like online play, new maps/content has always been given to it's players.

People always resist change. even if it is for the better
