And just like online play, new maps/content has always been given to it's players.

People always resist change. even if it is for the better
i understand what your saying but the fact that people say that the dev sucks after a decision like this is far to ignorant. Part of my point was that Infinity ward isnt being A-holes in marketing and sales here, there actually still supporting PC gaming after announcing the astonishing facts of there game being pirated a couple months ago.

And why would you expect free online content when it has to be purchased on another platform? You guys never heard of expansion packs?: add-on content that has to be payed for and is only noticed in the PC gaming market. The only difference between expansion packs and what IW is trying to is that its not off the shelve.

Your change theory holds its water pretty strong, people don't support paying for things when previously it costed them nothing and was legal. But i dont see much of a change here, i see devs trying there best to support a market that is sadly dieing due to the theft of there products.

if this is just about a mappack then they do suck...
I'd pay for an expansion, not something thats basic as maps.... would really let me down if they did this....

OK, now this sucks.
Ye ok, I can understand consoles having to pay because of the way things are downloaded on xbox live and stuff. But PC? why can they just do what they did with winter crash and do it in a patch?

Either way, I wont pay for them. End of :/

Let's just hope they mean that they're making more content for the PC so we can bash the consoles

Why not? BF2142 has the Northern Strike booster pack which is nothing more than a few maps and a couple of unlocks.

Yeah seriously, how would it work. The only possible way for it to work would be that it's some kind of expansion packs where you actually have registry entries, an installer, CD Key check... Because if it's just adding 4 new map folders into the multiplayer directory... lol, basically one people buy it and the rest of the world drags those folders into the right directory lol.

I figured I would see a comment like this. We as PC gamers do not get a map pack for a specific game and you write it off as "PC gaming is dying...blah blah"

C'mon man. PC gaming is as healthy as ever. I cant even keep up with all the games coming out and I play a lot. Just because someone doesn't come out with a map pack doesn't mean we are dying off...it just means they don't have a map pack.

Don't look so far into this. We still have extremely good developers for the PC

Yeah, "another nail in the coffin" - "dying", is a strong word. I don't mean that PC gaming will be obsolete in the next 12 months, I just mean it really takes a back seat to console gaming. And that seat is getting pushed further back bit by bit. Free downloadable content is one of the perks of PC gaming, I just don't want that taken away.

Now we don't even know if that's the case, so I'm done speculating.

If I have to pay up for something that should have been released with the game ie more mp maps, I will uninstall it and shut down the MP server at that time.

However, if they build on the concept by adding something substantial like oh maybe an online ranking server, I may be more inclined to stay with it. But it better be something of real value that is worth me investing more into it.
