correction, it was my dvd-rom drive's sata cable that was loose.

everything's still running fine...

fingers still crossed...

Sorry about the late reply, just burn the iso with a burning program like nero or whatever you have installed on your system. Then just stick the memtest cd into the drive and it will auto boot and auto run, you don't need to do anything else.

well, one of the good things that came out of this was that now i know how to make an iso disk. also know how to format my hard drive, update my bios, and a few other goodies. thanks to everyone who gave their input. LOOKS like my system is back to normal, and the only real thing i did was secure the sata cable to my dvd drive. go figure.

I had to reinstall vista like 4 times in the first 2 weeks I had my new build because of terrible unstable overclocks that led to memory errors. If you want to overclock make sure you research voltage control.

Murry, I hope you get your comp fix. Seems you get a little farther with it but still having issues. I didnt read a all 9 pages of this got to 7 and skipped to last.
but I'm put what I think might help.

1. Set defaults in Bios, power off computer, pull all but 1 memory stick.
2. Put Vista oem cd in, goto into Bios set "cd boot" as 1st to boot, disable 2nd and so forth. Save and exit.
3. It should load and ask you too boot from cd by pressing enter. Do that, windows vista so do its thing. Then it should ask for you to repair/ re-install/continue without doing anything. Click re-install. then delete all Partions on your hard-drive then create a new one and continue to do a fresh install of Vista.
4. Once Vista is install, grab the factory cd's for all your hardware (vid card, sound card ect.) and install drivers. Restart comp as directed too. Then once everything is install. RUn prime 95 or Orthos/ and installing crysis or any game of your choice. Once you know your system is rock soild. Try adding one stick of memory at a time. Hopefully you stay stable and everything works out for you
