Best RAM

What has to be the best RAM?

Should I go DDR2-800 or DDR2-1066?

I am looking for low memory timing, and the best bang for your buck.

As for the DDR2 I would personaly go with OCZ. As for the model, I would go with highest that my motherboard can support. For example you can get this or this!

I'm not a fan of OCZ although it is decent I must say, the heatspreaders annoy me really. For your quad ddr2-800 is enough. 4-4-4-12 should be plenty fast.

Why do the heatspreaders annoy you? They add thermally conductive mass to the memory IC's meaning more heat can be pulled away and where they aren't solid metal there's very little chance of warm air being trapped between them and the PCB.

Asus boards seem to be tempermental with OCZ memory though.

Good thing you're running a GigaByte.

For overclocking Crucial Ballistix are the best you can get. Not sure about best bang for buck though.

To be honest, you're in the golden age of computers as far as I'm concerned. Things can be had for dirt cheap. I could pick up 2x1GB of OCZ Platinum rev.2 for $29 after a $20 MIR.

It's definitly a good time to be upgrading.
