This cannot be right? (New Q6600 Temps)

Thread Starter
Basically I just put a G0 Q6600 into my rig and booted into windows xp at 3.6Ghz by accident!
Temps for around 34 degrees looking at TAT.

Now when I went into the Bios and reverted to stock clocks I rebooted and there were not any change in temperatures.

This is what coretemp is saying the cores are at
Core 1: 32 degrees
Core 2: 25 degrees
Core3: 32 degrees
Core 4: 24 degrees
This just seems a little of to me baring in mind my old e6420 idled at 16 degrees per core.
Anybody knows the C0 state is??
Please see the coretemp screenshot, it may help.

I idle at about 22-24C at stock clocks, similar to your lower temps.

Are you sure you're completely idle there? With two cores up at mid-30's, it looks like you have something chugging in the background.

Up at 3.4, I idle at about 30C, load to about 60C on Coretemp.

By the way, out of curiosity, how do you accidentally boot up at 3.6G?

seems a bit high for stock with tuniq tower, but would imagine if you OC at stock volts it should stay about the same.
but thats just an assumption.

at my settings in sig I idle 39 - 29 each core a bit diff, lowest 29 highest 39, but my cooling sucks, ordered t.r.u.e today

I would use some other programs to see what you are running for temps. Higher mhz will add a little heat, but not much. Also, there is nothing saying that the dual core temps were accurate. 16C is pretty low, even at idle. What are your ambients? Have you tried reseating the cooler a few times? A quad will run much warmer than any dual core.

What kind of ambients do you have?

Have you tried reseating the cooler and see if that helps at all?

Reset then try again...what were you getting before? Have you fiddled with the Tuniq?

Those temps are correct. Also, it's not possible that you had your previous idle at 16 degrees, unless your room temp is under 16 degrees. That's probably unlikely.

Just did orthos for 2 hours at 2.7Ghz and highest core was at 40 degrees.
I still think somethings up here.

15 degree ambient sounds like a stretch to me. That is 59 degrees Fahrenheit, unless you have cold winters with your windows open.
