I set the Multi to 15, so its at 3.0 right now, but when I change it to 16 (3.2) It wouldn't boot. Oh well, I'll mess with the HT speed. Thanks

Have fun tinkering

3.00GHz will probably be the limit. If you only changed the multi and it's not stable at 3.2GHz then you will most likely need to up the vcore to keep going. Unfortunately there is no vcore adjustment on this board

Well, since last posting, I tried 15.5, instead of 16, and it worked! Got to 3.11GHz, then I tries 205x15.5-didn't work. But it is fully stable at 203x15.5 (3.15)

I am a total cpu overclocking noob, and I think I'll leave it at that. Not worth getting a new mobo+W7 just to get it to like 3.8

And new heatsink, too

Yeah, for the cost, the extra 600MHz probably won't be missed in real world apps. Though, I'm sure you'll get the upgrade bug again before too long, like I did I started with the same board and a similar setup, and now look where I am lol.

Oh yeah, witch would make the total like $300+

My next CPU upgrade will be in 2013-14, before this Phenom, I had a Pentium 4 and Athlon single core for 4 years. I wonder what will be on the market then.

Edit: Now to do something to this ram.

Hello all to the owners of this mobo. First off i know many are saying there is no voltage control on this correct..

wrong

I found a bios that is stable and also has all the voltage settings you need..

the bios is MA69GMS2.f3a Its old yes but i don't think there is any updated biso with modded setting quite like this bios for it then when in bios area press ctrl f1 to get the advance settings and you will also have all the voltage settings you can change inc cpu voltage that you can change to a max 3.5v But you going to need some good cpu cooler to over voltage i got my 2.6ghz to 3.2Ghz not stable enough but need to tweak a few more things and i think i would get it stable enough under prim95

I must stress tho i take no responsibility in using this bios version as its a modded one but very stable and i have had no problems with it yet.

If anyone has some info how to set the x multiplier setting setting up on ram and oc it i would be grateful of the cos i cant seem to see the settings to manly put the info in.

Below is what settings you get on that bios

^^^ No, we were correct. In stock form there is NO voltage control on this board. If you are using a modified BIOS, then great, but in stock form, with any BIOS you get from Gigabyte's website, this board has no voltage control. Using a modified BIOS is very risky.

Sounds risky, plus it's a really old version.

Yeah, that BIOS would not support your Phenom II. Not to mention, if they didn't include voltage control on a board, there's a reason. It probably can't handle increased voltage. You could up vcore, but I wouldn't be upping anything else. I had a M57SLI-S4 (Nvidia 570 chipset) that got a BIOS update to support the original Phenom 9850BE. Upgraded to the Phenom and got it stable at 3.00GHz, but I had TWO of the same boards crap out on me, both brand new from Microcenter, while trying to overclock that thing.

Traded the M57SLI-S4 in for an E8400 and 750i FTW, and couldn't have been happier. At the time, Intel's 45nm chips were leaps and bounds better than AMD. Now things have changed of course.
