Vista x64 or XP Pro x64 - Page 3

I am only extreme with my support statements for XP x64 because this forum IS heavily biased towards vista, and if I were to just say something like "I would go with XP x64", it would most likely be ignored and lost in the sea of pro-vista posts

Just because Vista is liked and has worked for lots of other members on OCN does not make OCN a Vista Fanboy. Lots of people like Vista...even with its few annoying bugs...and I say a few because most of them have been ironed out with SP1.

Your post on XP64 Would not get lost if you had made it less fanboyish...I mean C'mon look at your sig...For one its incorrect and two it looks rather fanboy. Can you now see why people may not take your opinion onboard ?

I have to say that xp 32 bit is better than vista 32 bit. vista 64bit is much better than xp64. They fixed many of the driver issues and compatibility issues with it. It is also much more popular now since RAM is so cheap so products are supporting vista64 more and more.

On a side note, I've been thinking of getting Visa Ultimate (installing 64 bit version). How many of you run USB thumb drives for the - well, I'm not sure what to call it. Is it that superfetch, or is it called someting else? Would it be worth it to get a thumb drive just for this purpose?

Windows X64 has less support to it, compared to vista x64. However, it runs faster in games if you use XP compared to vista.

It's really up to you here. Would you want better support, things install right without errors (because they are not supported) but have smaller slower frame rate. OR have problems with some installers, some drivers mite not work but game just run up alittle faster

That is not true. This is just the problem. People are under the false impression that XP x64 is somehow less suported than Vista x64. In reality, it has no more compatibility issues than Vista 64, and in fact it has a bit less. And it has just as many if not more drivers than Vista 64. I would like you to give me some specific examples of software or hardware that will not work on XP x64 but will on Vista 64. This of course excludes DX10. I've asked this question many times, and so far, not one person has been able to muster a solitary example. Not one. Will you change that?

i was using XP64 until i ran into driver problems and switched to Vista64. for some reason, it takes a little more to get my machine dual orthos stable on vista, but i guess if its stable for vista then thats a good thing.
