Huge difference between Vista and XP with games?

With vista I can realize much much more lag... with xp COH, Crysis Demo and NFS Pro Street, i put everything to max with no AA and the image was amazing and it ran very very smooth, without overclocking nothing, now with vista I overclocked the cpu and the 8800gt and it lags. Is this normal?

Vista is alot more resource intensive than XP. I know that 3d mark scores are lower in Vista so its understandable that you'd have better performance in XP than Vista. Usually though the difference is not that noticable from what I understand and if you've now overclocked with Vista and are still having worse performance then I dunno.

I read somewhere that if you disable your unused HID's in your device manager some games will run smoother..

I can't say for your games, but I tried this to get CoD2 and FEAR to run better and was very surprised to see it worked.. For whatever reason, I have 8 HID's running even tho I am only using a KB and Mouse on my USB's... So I disabled the others..

Now I don't mean to say I got the frames I got in XP, but it increased enough that I couldn't really tell the difference..
