Well, it depends a lot on the cooling you have for the cpu. Then, agani not many people have them yet, so we don't really know. I imagine 3.6 on air would be a good OC, 3.2 for sure.

The big problem is the multi. it has an 8 multi, so with 500 FSB you will get 4.0GHz. The only possilbe problem with that is boards have a hard time running stable with more then 450 FSB on the current quads. So worst case scenario is that you will get 450 FSB x 8 = 3.6GHz (assuming the CPU can runt at that speed).

The FSB your mobo can reach is going to be the determining factor from what i understand too. Also you need to stay below 1.37 volts to be on the safe side and under 70 degrees which will be easy with some decent air cooling like the Tuniq or TRUE 120.

yeah, with that motherboard, you wont be able to get much more than 450 FSB. I see that 8x multiplier is really holding back these quad cores...... Makes me glad I bought this e8400.

But the boards are not new. For example, my X38 board can run a 515 FSB at 1.43v to the NB with a dual core. Yet Binormalkilla needs 1.63v to the NB to run a 450 FSB with the 65nm quad. So its not really the chip, but the board that might limit the overclock (by being limited in the OC ability of the FSB).
