I am an engineer if you needed anything of that sort . Not a computer engineer though . (Civil)

I am A+ certified, and I also have many Dell DCSE certifications as well, and I work in the computer hardware technician field. If you have any fell free to PM me, and I will set you up with my AIM screenname.

It is probably not that great of an idea to plan out your build at this time, as the hardware prices are constantly dropping. You could put together a $2000 build today, but it would probably cost $1000 in September. It nice to come up with a gameplan though, but I would not pick out specific hardware yet. You would probably end up building an Intel build, as AMD is slumping now, and I don't see them catching up until next year at the earliest.

Heres a tip from my 1st build. Make sure u get a good return and refund policy. Heres how mine went, i ordered my 2900xt thinking it was the sh&t and it was at the time but i got all my parts and my computer wouldnt work. I returned everything once until it was 3 months later and it was my psu. Last thing i supsected but neway by that time the gt was out and it was half the price and alot less power consumptive and better. But neway i couldnt even refund my 2900 at any time cus i got the 30 day return policy from newegg and not the standard. Just a thing to look at when ur buying. And i personally hate myself for going with ati. I recommend nvidia now. And intel too amd just cant keep up. I mean really coming out with a quad core like 5 months after intel released them and not even being faster than intels? Whats up? But i really dont have a say on whats coming out and for how much and which is best but just do ur research.

I am leaning toward the SkullTrail board or something with two CPU's for octo-core.

I think that anyone spending ridiculous amounts of cash on a computer is a wast. Let me give you an example why.

Lets say you built 2 computers, one cost 1k and the other costs 3k. Sure, the more expensive one will perform better, but they will be outdated at the same time when newer tech comes out.

It's only necessary to spend as much as what your going to be happy with until the next time new tech comes out (unless you don't upgrade regularly).

I am not one who upgrades regularly. I went from an 6600GT AGP to an 8800GTS 512MB. I really don't upgrade that much. This is for school and that amount of money is only the gist. I really don't plan on paying that much. Plus, this will be built within 1 year. I am getting the new Nehalem CPU, and the new Nvidia GPU GTX280. The case is needed for its size for water cooling, and case modding.

What case is that? looks like a Lian Li. Got a link to it? (also if oyur making a log, i'd personally keep track of all the Model's, Prices, Serials and other details that seem important)

oh and, I'm Also cert'ed if you need some help (Statement (Computer hardware Servicing), Cert2(I.T - General) and Cert3(hardware and Peripherals) If you need me, i'm usually floating around here somewhere.
