eVGA 780i Instant FF help please!

Thread Starter
I got exactly the same with an XFX model I had but retured, and now this one!

I really dont know what is wrong, I tried different rams, in all the slots, 1 stick and 2.

1 GPU and both GPU's, to make sure it wasnt the adaptor
Made sure all power was connected correctly.

Made sure everything was secure etc.

What I noticed was that the tracer lights didnt come on, but they do now with the DS3 board, but even with my old Geil Ram it just gave me instant FF.
Any ideas, im totally lost

Did you make sure to plug the 6 pin power connector in at the top left of the board?
Thread Starter
Its not 6-pin, its the 8-pin ATX for the cpu, and yes I used the 2x4-pin on my power suppy which is the same as a standard 8-pin, it was split so it could be used with older boards.

I just dont get it because the same parts with my DS3 board is the system im typing this post with!
So its all working but with that board something goes wrong.

Hmm... that's a weird one for sure. You have tired to reset the CMOS and also made sure the pin wasn't in the reset position?

Yes ive made sure cmos is correct 2Luke2.
Lol cognoscenti Got any ideas?

It doesnt make any sense whatsoever, I cant believe its happened with 2 boards, it must be me as much as I hate saying it, but I spent 5 hours trying to find it, and I couldnt, everything has been covered in my eyes.

I wonder if there is a motherboard mounting post in the wrong spot that is grounding it out. That is the first thing that came to my mind when you said everything is working on the DS3 board (the posts that lines up with it, might not line up with the 780i). So just double check that a misplaced mounting post isnt touching the board.

There isnt, all the mounting posts are on the outer corners of the board. I moved them for the 780i as it is slightly bigger.
It cant be any of the components, they are al fully working in this current system, it isnt Sli as 1 GPU doesnt work, it isnt the ram as neither my old or new ram works.
Not the cpu, tried a dual core and same results.

Have you tried it with a barebones system? CPU, Video card, and 1 stick of ram in the 3rd slot?

Nothing, but the MB and and video card plugged into the psu.
