is this a good deal? are GB cards any good? haven't heard too much about them

Yes it is a good deal. I have owned 4 gigabyte cards. and a motherboard.

7600GS then another 7600GS in sli then a 7300GS and then a 7950GT 512mb. The thing about gigabyte is they either do passive cooling or you get a nice Zalman. So yes gigabyte is a great card maker and one of the oldest names in the buisiness. I only had to rma A motherboard which worked for 2 years and a video card which worked for 2 months.

Not bad. As long as the warranty on the card is good enough, go for it. I would recommend a 512mb card, though.

yer gigabyte are good i got the 8800GT 512MB comes with a Copper Zalman fan

That's a good deal. This $165 Evga 8800GT 512 is a good deal too.
