Good guide but i have a question.
When you reseat your gpu cooler do you leave the thermal tape covering the ram?
I was planning on putting some mx-2 on the core, but can i put some to cover the ram too?

thanks

If you must, I would keep the thermal tape on the memory. Since the thermal tape is usually thicker than the normal application of thermal paste it fills in the space between the memory and heatsink. This is due to the height of the core and the memory not being the exact same height. Thermal tape is also used since it is not conductive.

MX-2 is stated to not be conductive, but I wouldn't risk it. Thermal tape usually does a good enough job in the first place.

What do you guys think about those "ac fans" out there? I always thought that would be an awesome idea. Is there something I'm missing with 'em?

It would be a good idea for someone who needs more than a Delta which I think is not too many people. However if you don't care about noise and the electricity bill it would be good for someone to try one because I haven't seen it done before. They sell some locally here but I don't know their specs. A lot of them come with a fan guard already so that says something already.

Anyone who wants a high CFM and pressure fan, and doesn't mind spending a bit of money needs to look at this. It's very quiet for the amount of air it pushes too. I think it might actually be quieter than 39dBA

You should probably recommend something other than the Ultra Kaze, there are better 38mm fans. Ultra Kaze is louder than other fans and undervolts poorly (motor whining).

Anyways... if you guys want a good fan you may want to pick up some Sanyo Denki San Ace fans. Even though the rated dba looks high they have a very quiet motor which makes up for it.
