New high OC for me!! 8800GT

So I have the BFG 8800GT. I decided to put my comp up on a desk, yes I know finally... Anyways, I took the filters off my scythe 110cfm fans and noticed a 10C drop in my 8800GT temps.. Well what does an OC'er do when he notices he has more temperature range to play with?? So its up to 740/1854/1030 stable now. Quick question, I know that having the filters off will invite more air, but I am running a positive pressure system so that should help keep most of the dust out right?

Temps before filter removed: 52-54C idle, 60-65C load
After filter removed from fans and OCed to new settings: 44C idle 55-57C load. Not too shabby with the stock cooler still on huh?

Ambient around 25-27C

Yeah, that stock cooler isn't so good. I have mine running at 50% all the time and 95% during games. Still gets over 60C, which I don't like.
Nice work!

I should've specified, when running ATItool and Crysis it gets up to 65C but I haven't seen it get any higher. For my normal gaming experience 55-57 is the highest. From what I understand the GPU can take higher temps so I'm not too worried. I'll be starting a new build once I move to Hawaii... Might even worklog it. We shall see.

How did you get such a high OC? What did you do/use? I used riva tuner on my card and it's barely stable at 650/1650/950... Did you voltmod, flash, etc?

Hey alexvasile,

I am using RivaTuner 2.08 with 169.25 drivers. (about to upgrade them to those 174s ) No voltmod, no extra stuff. Just lucky my card will go that high I guess. I do have 2 scythe 1900rpm fans for intake in the front of my TT Armor and one scythe 1900rpm as an exhaust along with various 92mm fans. I just kept cranking up the MHz in rivatuner till I artifacted. Which was at 750 btw.

Dude, 60-65C was nothing on your before load temps.

You should've been OCing that sucker from the getgo.

I would rather have those intake filters just because I hate cleaning out dust.
