Q9450 vs Q6600 STOCKSPEED - Page 3

I havent tried taking my mobo past 1600 yet, but at x9 my 6600 is at 3.6, with a 9450 at x8 though, i would be at 3.2.

I think it would be better for me to take the $300+ that it would take to get a 9450 and put it towards watercooling the cpu and the mobo, and I would still be better off with the 6600
This is very true. It makes no sense to go from already owning a Q6600 to a Q9450. But choosing one or the other I would go with the Q9450 (once prices have settled of course).

So is anyone gonna answer my question about a Q6700? I'm just curious. what a 2.66 Q6700 would equal to a Q9450 being that the Q6700 has a 10x multiplier where the Q6600 has a 9x and the Q9450 even lower.

Well it would mean that the Q6700 could acheive a higher overclock without putting as much strain on your NB/FSB. But thats obvious. It sounds like what your asking for is a redo of the testing with a Q6700 instead of the 6600. Obviously thats not going to happen.

A Q6600 and a Q6700 are the same CPU with a higher multiplier on one of them. That isn't gonna effect speed, it just MAY effect you OC. If a Q6600@3.8 is about equal to a Q9450@3.6, then a Q6700@3.8 should be about equal to a Q9450@3.6. It'll just be easier to hit the 3.8

You can use that extra column to add CPUs.... if that is what you was wanting to see at least.

*edit* uh. i can't find that forum thingy about the 3.6 ghz and 3.7 ghz, i guess we'll have to wait a few more days for the benchmark results to be posted o_o
o_o that can't be right.. lol.. why would they bother releasing this then? if a last gen processor that costs $100+ less with a greater OC potential can trump a new processor, why bother o.o

Looks like they aren't even going to bother testing the new CPUs on XP.

I'd like to see a test with both of them running at the same frequency and same front side bus.

There doesn't look to be any advantage whatsoever. All the tests show around 10-15% performance increase which is exactly the same as the mhz increase between the two. They look identical...
