Maybe its just because I'm on a DoD server, but Steam is always a big pain in the ass for me. The only reason I even have it is to play Counter-Strike Source. So I may be the minority, but I prefer to stick to the good ol' fashioned store-bought games.

I am in the minority as well. As much a i love steam, i hate it t0o! For example, whatever folder you put steam into, it puts ALL your games into that folder. I couldn't find a way to undo this. So, when i ran out of room on that partition, i had to uninstall and reinstall EVERYTHING by steam on a different partition. ( i really was pissed about this) Plus, every time i start up my game, i get spamed with steam advertisements, I know you can disable it. But there is little things about steam that annoy me.

If your not playing a Steam game, why would you have Steam open? And even if you are not playing a steam game, just load up Steam, go to games. Right click on the game that is updating and chose 'pause update'

Problem Solved

I feel you on that one man. Best i have ever had on a BF2/2142 patch from EA is like 60kb per sec. But with steam it maxes out my bandwidth every time.

I personally love Steam/Valve for what they have accomplished. Although i don't have many games from them i do appreciate what it does have to offer. I just like hard copies, but that isn't Steams problem

I LOVE Steam. They're the kings of digital delivery. Suck that EA.

And then you have to cross your fingers and pray that it actually works.

Valve needs to release an OS just for gamers. Just add DX10 support, integrated FF browser, and a decent music/movie player and its goodbye Windows!

Funny, that. I recently had to do a reformat so I tossed my whole steam folder to an alternate drive. It still works, and installs games to said drive.

Yeah steam is great. But I don't know whether they accept Overseas people buying it online.
