i hate nvidia right now, the g92 is a garbage core for a brad new series. the 9800GTX seems to only slightly outperform the 8800ultra

Well, If ya think about it, an 8800 Ultra here in Ireland is about 530 Euro, whereas, the 9800GTX when released will be 399 Euro, not the worst price bracket for performance, an 8800GTS G92 is about 300 here...
The 9800GTX might be the best choice now, since in the games that do not support sli, or dont play well with it, the 9800GTX will dominate the 9800 GX2

The 9800GTX is just an overclocked 8800GTS.

Rivatuner+8800GTS=9800GTX.

Nvidia hasn't released a new product since the 9600GT. I do not understand in any way how the 9600GT is so good with a substantially cut down G92 core, while the 9800GTX is terrible with a full core. Buy two 9600GT's and SLI them. Cheaper and miles better than a 9800GTX. For the price of a 9800GX2 you could SLI three 9600GT's and buy a SLI Motherboard.

NVidia will presumably make an actual technical step forward eventually, probably after they are clobbered by the 4870x2.

After the 3870 x2, I'm not holding my breath for any ATI cards. They've pretty much backed off the high-end bracket.

Why does everyone act so ignorant about the 9800 series, I thought we already established the fact that it's just a g92 revamp not a whole new series! Most of the people on this forum are pretty smart and they know it's a g92 but are expecting next gen performance from a current gen core???? I agree that it is stupid that they labeled it 9800 instead 8900, but quit bashing it's performance just because they made a mistake in naming it.

They should also quit bashing it's performance. The 9800 GX2 performs very nicely, with at least a 40% gain over the 8800 Ultra without having to buy 2 separate video cards, and is still cheaper than 8800 Ultra SLI.

The G80s are the deal of the century right now, 2 8800gts320s for 115 a piece after rebates on newegg, they are practically giving those things away.
