Iam kinda new making computers and just bought my video card EVGA 9600 SSC Edition.. One of the good ones.

What really is PIC-E????. Iam sorry if this is a noobish question but hey i need some info thanks.

PCI - Express is the type of slot which the card plugs into so tha it can communicate with the motherboard. You need to have a motherboard which has PCI-E so that the card will work with it.

Long answer is PCI-E is a new bus architechture, capable of much higher transfer rates
than previous buses like ISA,PCI,AGP, ect It is based upon 1x and scales upto 16x for
version 1.1 , PCI-E v2 scales upto 32x and doubles the bandwith at the same time.
Many things run in the pci-e bus such as SATA , USB, and other internal features of your
motherboard. Hope that helps/

PCI-e is a slot for adding stuff in (Like graphics cards, sound cards...etc)

D.J.S. explained it in more detail than I did

so what your saying if you have a 16x than sli them it would turn into a 32x????

So why is there 2.0 1.0 PCI-E

I think you misunderstood him.
He was mentioning an entirely different type of PCI-E which runs at 32x which is the version 2.
PCI-E by itself will only run at 16x, and I do beleve that when you use SLI on version 1 PCI-E, it goes down to 8x each.

Basically PCI-E is the new slot on motherboards which has become that standard for the latest video cards.

It's perfectly possible to make a 32 lane PCI-E slot, even with PCI-E 1.x, they just aren't seen much.

PCi-E 2.0 is a second generation that doubles the bandwidth per lane. It's backwards compatable with 1.x, in most cases.

In many respects PCI-E is to PCI/AGP as SATA is to PATA. Both are scalable serial buses that run at high clock rates and need relatively few pins per lane.

PCI-E 2.0 is a magical revision of the PCI-E bus, increasing the bandwidth so much so, that now you can finally put that kinky thong on it and pretend it's a "lady friend".

No nowhere did I state that.
PCI-E 1.1 can go from 1X ,upto 16X per slot mostly 1x 4x 8x and 16x are
what sockets they use .
Depending on your chipset and its max pci-e pipelines will determine how
what speed SLI / Xfire runs at.

PCI-E effective doubles each lanes capacity to read /write , and enables
the scaling upto 32X per slot. Its waaay new and not utilized at all yet
no current GPU could utilize a 32X slot fully yet.
