so far looks like the best non HD series agp card on newegg...and cheap too!
Hm...thanks. So the X1650PRO would still do well with games at the moment, yes? I'm not worried about new games soon to come out nor do I care about Crysis. (HATTER!!!)

Thanks for telling me exactly what I needed to hear. : But what of the 1650PRO? How good is that card at the moment?

Edit:
I would go with the HD 2600 all the way. A plus to it is that it has HD audio built into the card and with the included DVI to HDMI adaptor it streams both the video and sound directly through your HDMI cable for easy hd tv hookup (at least on the sapphire versions).
Oh...so that's it. Will, what're the Manufacturers I should stay clear of for ATi, and which are the best?

So far, I plan on getting either an HD2600 (it's cheaper than a X1950) or an X19*0. Any objections?

The X1650 pro falls below the 2600, 1950 and definately the 3850.

As for manufacturers, I've never had a problem with Sapphire, on my 3rd card with no problems. Haven't tried any other brand though.

Also, if your looking for Crysis, the 1950pro is pushed to get it on medium settings, and the 2600 would fall behind that. Here's a comparison chart: http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=725&chart=275
hope that helps some.

Thanks. Hm...I think I might settle for an X1900GT since the PRO is so high these days. >.<

don't go with the GT version. it's severely handicapped compared to the the pro and XT. IMO, if you're going to keep your setup for a bit (not upgrade) then just save a little bit of extra cash, and get the X1950pro and you won't regret it.

When i was researching which ATi card i wanted, i looked at the 1950 vs 1900 and the GT vs pro vs XT, and i discovered that the GT is severely handicapped. So just a word of wisdom about the x1900GT

Hm...I'll look into to that. I've always used this, but I've never bothered to check the website for anything else.

I don't know how the others perform, but I can tell you that the 1650Pro can run COD4 on medium settings with 60FPS. Or at least it will on my rig.

for you, the x1650pro definitly looks like the cheap way to go. You should be able to play games from 2000~2005 on relatively high settings. with my x1650 I can play older games like cod1 (2003 i think) and mohpc (2004 I think) on max settings. I've played demos for cod4 and crysis on low resolution and medium(crysis) to high(cod4) graphics.

but for newer games it would be safer to go with something better.

Considering your processor and amount of RAM, I'd highly suggest you go with the X1650PRO. Your system would bottleneck any higher of a card. The Nvidia 7600GS would also be a good way to go as well. You have a mid range computer, so you might as well put a mid range GPU in there. Since its AGP, that makes matters even worse, no reason to spend loads of money on a great card, when you won't be able to transfer it to a new rig.

Here's the order of ATI AGP cards (that I know of):
X1650PRO>HD2600>X1950PRO>HD3850

Those are the only cards I would go with from ATI for an AGP slot. I'd recommend the X1650PRO because of the rest of your system. If you had a dual core CPU and more RAM I'd recommend you a higher AGP card, but with your current system it really isn't worth it.

Good brands for ATI Cards:
ATI (duh), Sapphire, HIS, Diamond, Visiontek (lifetime warranty on this brand), and GeCube. They're all great brands, however most of them only carry a 3 year warranty tops. There's also MSI, ASUS, the other generic brands. The brands I listed above are specific to ATI only. Brand really doesn't matter much except warranty purposes.
