Lapped TRUE from CrazyPC.com

Thread Starter
Like the title says, I just got a lapped TRUE from CrazyPC.com

I also ordered two 120x38mm Panaflo Fans, 114 cfm, 46 dBa 3000 Rpm fans
and Some shin-etsu.

I had the Tuniq Tower before, so I figured, why remove the backplate? Luckily enough, the screws for the TRUE and the Tuniq backplate worked just fine, so I didn't have to go through the agonizing process of removing the motherboard, and peeling off the backplate.

The lap job was great, it was flat, as I expected, and it had a faint mirror shine.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Results: I used a Tuniq Tower with only one stock fan included, not lapped for 3.2 Ghz at 1.3 v (bios) using AS5. Tested using Prime95 with SmallFTT's

before: ambient 22 c
(idle/load)
37/63
37/63
32/54
32/54

delta between idle/load
26 C
26 C
22 C
22 C

after: ambient 23 c (with Lapped TRUE, 2 Panaflo's and Shin-Etsu) Tested using Prime95 with SmallFTT's. I also used the fans in a Push/Pull Config towards the Huge Exhaust Fan on the top of my Antec 900.

(idle/load)
35/58
35/58
30/49
30/49

delta between idle/load
23 C
23 C
19 C

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Other thoughts: my computer now sounds like a vacuum, (which is now the name of my rig), and i'm very very cold. Was it worth it? I'd say so because now I can just use my insanely heavy computer to vacuum my apartment.
No, honestly, it was worth it because i've got better temps. And better temps for an overclocker is a good thing.

The total order came out to like 120.00 US, but on the downside I had to pay 32 for express USPS, and 24.00 in customs charges, so it came to be fairly expensive.

Overall, I'd recommend CrazyPC, but I'm not too sure about the panaflo's (They are rather loud)

This is just to give you an idea of what kind of results I got.

I plan to lap my Q6600, so hopefully I can get better temps even more.

I will post back with my temps at 3.6 Ghz. I've already hit it with the Tuniq, but load temps were hitting 70 ++ C on SmallFTT in prime95, so I lowered my clocks to 3.2

So now hopefully I can go back to 3.6, or even more.

All thoughts/comments/opinions welcome.

I just ordered my lapped TRUE from there an hour ago and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival. Glad to see you're happy with it!

I think the biggest improvement was illustrated by the change in the delta from idle/load observed post TRUE.

You should not have it facing up, it will give you higher temps because you're not making use of the direction of airflow.. as in the air coming from the front intake

also those are higher temps than I get.. I have the same A900, q6600 g0, and TRUE (UNLAPPED) @ 3.4 and I idle 30/28/30/28 and I only have one 2000rpm fan on my true.. I don't think the vacuum noise is worth it, but I would try turning your true the other day and you might get better results

tbh, my case has terrible airflow due to poor cable management. I'm going to do a cable mod in the near future, that should rectify any air flow problems.

As for temps -- you might have a better ambient temperature than I do, so that could be why you have better temps. Talking temps without knowing the ambient is useless

lol, what did you do to stop the vacuum sound effect? Buy new fans? haha

I haven't messed with any wires yet, they are still chillin around with no management whatsoever and I'm still getting better temps with lower powered fans and the true facing the other way, it doesn't hurt to try

i doubt his ambients are lower than yours as you are in CANADA! he is in north carolina. just turn the TRUE to blow out the rear exhaust fan, it will help trust me. even with no cable management. your temps are too high with 2 panaflo's on it. i idle at 38C with 1 Antec tri-cool fan with the fan set on low. you should be under 30C with that set up
